Favorite metal style

Are you focused on a style or an all metal fan, what makes you headbang ...

I listen to lots of music in general but when it comes to Metal it is mostly of the black, doom or black-doom variety. Mostly good ol' Black Metal though and there is a lot of great new bands coming out which make it a bit of an exciting moment right now. Fuck traditionalists who hate new BM simply for its newness!

With new BM, you mean BM with other influences or BM who forget pure blackness, satanism or others parts of traditionnel second wave black metal.

Both really. I was being a bit rhetorical in my previous post as I don't really know many other people into metal in real life so what I said was based on message boards, and they are never a good indicator of people's approaches. However I do find it unfortunate and a bit distressing when people seem to go out of their way to insult bands which do something "weird" or innovative (for example the hate that Alcest appeared to receive upon releasing their album). The same types of people then tend to hate bands for being "clones" of older bands. Seems a bit silly to me, and merely an attempt to make themselves feel superior by having an elite taste in music.

Not that I really care in the end I guess, just something I have noticed and annoys me.

I didn't know Alcest, I discover it by writing this post thanks to myspace. I discover at the same time the name of the style "Black Metal/Shoegaze" according to Metal Archives. Sure it's something really different. If they played before traditionnal black metal, I understand that some fans could be disappointed . It remembers me third album of Morgoth and last of Cryptopsy ... very special

Sad that its member was too a member of Peste Noire which seems to be very near of french racist bands (same members, same label, split with racist bands ...)

In fact metal world is a very traditionnal world, some needs a lot of courage to try to create something new. It's true too that in metal, and specially in black metal, a high number of people like to say what is good or not, what is or isn't pure black metal, like supreme judge. "I hear pure raw true black metal, I'm very very bad " ....

You know what, I'm fall in a new style. Because of the split of my band, I joined the band of a friend (a girl) as vocalist. They play melodic metal with keyboard and female voice. Hopefully, I'm here to give some brutality !

You were drummer isn't it?

Drummer and half vocalist. Drummer is more interessant for me, but vocalist is good for girl, I find my wife after my first gig as vocalist

Maybe you would have of making more gigs, just to have many more women (Just laugh)

Do you have any band now? What's the name?

No band ready for gig !
