Re: Summer Festivals
So, I came back from Hell Fest and I saw these bands (I've not chosen all the bands because I was with a girlfriend)
I've seen Slayer, Motörhead, Sonata Arctica, Dimmu Borgir, Helloween, Iced Earth, Katatonia, Porcupine Tree, Testament, Gamma Ray, Satyricon, Carcass, Morbid Angel, Venom, Obituary, Sodom, Candlemass, Death Angel, Eluveitie, Municipal Waste, Impaled Nazarene, Legion of the Damned, The Old Dead Tree, Forbidden, Misanthrope, and Carcass.
Katatonia, Sonata Arctica, Porcupine Tree and Forbidden were just shit.
Legion of the Damned, Venom, Misanthrope and Obituary were good but a bit boring after three songs.
I've discovered Eluveitie and Iced Earth, really good bands
Testament, and Death Angel were excellent, they were kings of the fest, others good, as usual.

Re: Summer Festivals
I come back from the Obscene Extrem Festival, a GrindCore Fest and you would be really happy : Vegan food at all stand !!!!
Re: Summer Festivals
That must be everywhere, it's logical because we can't eat corpse, they can eat vegan food ...
Re: Summer Festivals
I have made a big fest. Vegan Beer, vegan food and great band like Agathocles, Regurgitate, MAcabre and Cie.

A proof for Iron Maiden.. was kinda hard to catch a photo of them from back there. But I love the atmosphere on that above pic.

Re: Summer Festivals
Time for a resumé now. I had a great time on that 3 festivals this sommer.
Graspop was a bit annoying beacause of the long ways, the strict rules for camping and the bad organization (incredible bottelnecks after leaving the festival grounds after the headliners). Also, the sound was really bad for a lot of bands, except the 2 or 3 Headliners each day, where it was totally great. I learned that Yngwie can't play guitar at all. I saw an impressing show of Ministry, Iron Maiden did maybe the best gig I've seen so far. I'm in the Kiss army now, alltough I found them a bit boring, they simply told us all we'd be in the Kiss army now. They're fun, but in my opinion, they exagerate it a LOT. Cavalera Conspiracy totally hit it off, wath an awesome performance. It was great to see ICed aerth with Barlow back in charge, who did a brilliant job, and In Flames still can do it live very well, I did not like their latest album at all, but the show was very good.
Wacken. Hell yeah, it's Wacken. Sure, it's suffering from the mainstream interest in the last 2-3 years, it is VERY crowded now, but there is still an uncomparable atmosphere over there. There's much more people than at Graspop, but still the ways are shorter, you've got all the comfort by camping next to your car. Still, most people there are true metalheads. A lot of great bands, though Maiden were better in Belgium. Soilwork had a great mood in the crowd, thogh they had some sound problems. Children of Bodom were good, Sonata Arctica were much better than in belgium, and here you could see one thing that makes Wacken different: we were further away from the stage, but still people knew the lyrics much better. At the Gates did a really good gig. Was fun to see Lordi and Axxis, very entertaining both. I still don't really know what to think about Nightwish. But after all those big bands, the one I enjoyed the most was definatly Powerwolf.
After those two huge festivals it was nice to be on a small local one, at Rock Area. Genious festival site directly on the lake, you could take a swim in the noon. Very good gigs from Sodom, Neaera and once again Powerwolf. Soulfly was nice too, but not that great compared to Cavalera Conspiracy in Belgium, and their sound was only average. Had some fun with smaller and local bands in the party tent (Schacht, Still It Cries). Unfortunatly, the open air stage was only allowed to play until 0h, and due to an extremely long soundcheck and the time they took to put on their make-up, Behemoth have only been left about half an hour to play. Silly. I didn't like their music that much either.

Re: Summer Festivals
I rather hope for Slayer and Blind Guardian. Seing Manowar would be fun, but I don't think they're welcome. They've got their own festival in germany, and there have been some "mishappenings" this year.
Wacken goes totally mad, only confirmed bands for next year are Machine Head and Cathedral, and I think nearly half of the tickets have already been sold (ok, i've gotten ticket number 741). Any chance to see some of you there?
@Geush Urvan: How was MetalCamp? I'd maybe like to check this out sometime.
