Black metal or not

The compulsory debate of any metal forum ...

Black metal needs those raw guitars that remind you of a snowy frostbitten mountain, and tortured vocals. Mostly though, its relative to each genre of Black Metal. You have your raw old school Darkthrone and Impious Havoc, and your depressive Thy Light along with your melodic Nokturnal Mortum. So many different sub genres that offer something different, yet pained vocals and frosty raw guitar riffs are almost universal.

I'm agree. I can't talk about Nokturnal because of their racist conviction which is not really antispecist but concerning folk or pagan metal it's true that for example Finntroll and windir (specially the first) can show a border. With Finntroll, there is mainly a joyful and lively side, with Windir, it is deeper and dark or more nostalgic. With Wyrd (at least the first) there's a folk side but a great raw black side too.

Some called death metal band have too a black metal side, and much more than others called black death metal band like God Dethroned which have abolutely no dark atmosphere (or atmosfear like the game ). The first Morgoth and Morbid Angel had this dark side.
